Ms. Parsley comes to MHS after four years of teaching in Chicago,
Illinois. A Frederick native, she graduated from Gov. Thomas Johnson and
the Advanced Music Studies Program. She was also a student conductor of
the Frederick Children's Chorus. Ms. Parsley then went to DePaul
University, where she received a Bachelor's of Music Education.
While at
DePaul she co-founded the DePaul Student Productions, and was the student
director of both the DePaul World Harmony Ensemble and Vocal Jazz
Ensemble. Following her student teaching assignment at New Trier High
School, she taught pre-school through 8th grade General music and Choir at St.
Joan of Arc, Alphonsus Academy & Center for the Performing Arts, and Melzer
Elementary School, where she was nominated for Who's Who Among American
Teachers.
In her spare time, Ms. Parsley sang with da Corneto Opera
Company, the Chicago Chamber Singers, performed in numerous musicals, and taught
voice and piano lessons. This past summer she began her Masters Degree in
Choral Music Education from Florida State University. She is very excited
to return to the Frederick area and looks forward to a wonderful year at
Middletown High School!
